MARIN COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AGENCY: The Marin County Community Development Agency joins together what is commonly known as Planning, Building, and Environmental Health. The Community Planning section of the Planning Division maintains and updates the Countywide Plan, Community Plans, the Local Coastal Program and specialized land use studies.
CURRENT VACANCY: There is one (1) full-time, vacancy in the Community Planning section of the Planning Division. The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancy and any future vacancies that may occur in this assignment while the list remains active.

Eligible lists remain active for a minimum of six (6) months. For future opportunities, please indicate your interest in part-time, full-time and/or extra hire employment on your application.
THE POSITION: The Planner will join a dynamic team responsible for developing, implementing and updating planning programs including the Countywide Plan, Community Plans and the Local Coastal Program, and helping develop programs and policies addressing emerging issues such as climate change. This person will analyze land use, environmental, economic and social data, legislation, policies and regulations, and the concerns of the County’s citizens to prepare and recommend policies, regulations, and programs shaping the County’s future to the Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors, and the public.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate is a critical thinker who possesses excellent collaboration, organizational, public involvement, writing and presentation skills (including experience preparing material for planning related projects), can independently perform professional land use planning and zoning projects in California, has experience managing planning projects, and possesses significant capabilities in standard office and database software, Geographic Information Systems, social media and the Web. The ideal candidate is eager to learn and work in a fast paced environment and will be committed to enhancing his or her knowledge and technical skills through direct experience. In addition, he or she would possess excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to customer service.
