One of the most critical positions to the City’s Planning Division, the Senior Planner oversees the Community Development Department’s Planning program. The position will be overseeing advanced plan review, developing and researching policies and making important decisions as it relates to both major development projects and smaller planning-related activities such as single family home parcels.
The Senior Planner is a supervising role, and directly oversees the City’s five full-time planning staff in addition to managing consultants supporting the division. The position reports to Community Development Department Management, and provides key recommendations to both City leadership including elected officials.

The Gulf Coast Community Design Studio (GCCDS) was established on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2005 to work in communities impacted by Hurricane Katrina and has evolved from disaster recovery to addressing long-term issues of community resilience. Under general direction, performs work related to the oversight, implementation, and inspection of housing development, rehabilitation and capital projects; ensures effective program administration and compliance with all applicable Federal, State, local, and program regulations, policies, procedures, and requirements; development of the project scope of work, acquire funding necessary for assigned projects; represents the program externally within the City, community, regulatory agencies, and the public; and performs related work as required.
