Chicago-based advisory firm specializing in public/private partnerships and community/economic development seeks an Associate to specialize in Community Development Finance assignments with a particular emphasis on New Markets Tax Credits (NMTCs). The firm’s clients include major cities, non-profits, financial institutions and developers nationwide.

The firm provides a range of consulting services in community development finance including:

• Preparing competitive NMTC applications for submittal to US Treasury
• Measuring, analyzing, and reporting community impacts of projects
• Reviewing potential projects that could benefit from NMTC financing
• Assisting high-impact projects in obtaining NMTC financing
• Structuring and negotiating transactions
• Providing transaction closing support
• Assisting with servicing/monitoring of existing NMTC loans

The Associate will specialize in assignments related to NMTC and other community development finance tools with a focus on research and writing tasks needed to effectively analyze and communicate the social and economic impact of relevant community development projects. The Associate will gain exposure to a variety of high-impact development projects.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Urban Planning, or a related field
• 1+ year relevant professional experience
• Exceptional writing skills
• Advanced quantitative analysis skills, particularly using Microsoft Excel
• Strength in oral communication and interpersonal skills
• Detail orientation and accuracy
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
• Commitment to community revitalization, economic development, and sustainability

Preferred Qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in Urban Planning/Economic Development, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field
• 2+ years of relevant professional experience
• Demonstrated experience in related fields, such as policy research, tax credit finance, real estate financial analysis, or real estate development.
