Conservation Strategy Group, LLC is a Sacramento-based lobbying and consulting firm specializing in environmental and natural resources strategy and advocacy. Conservation Strategy Group represents land trusts, environmental groups, conservancies and public agencies before the California Legislature and administrative agencies. We also work with our clients to develop project and program strategies and to develop and pursue public funding to support their conservation and resource management objectives.

Interns can expect to work on a variety of statewide environmental issue areas including policies related to land and wildlife conservation, clean energy, oceans, delta and water, climate change, cap-and-trade, and urban sustainability. This position is responsible for assisting with the overall organization of the legislative department. Key tasks include drafting and distribution of daily and weekly newsletters, scheduling meetings, monitoring legislative and agency functions, and general support for the department. Interns will also be assigned ongoing research projects from the Legislative Director. This position requires effective communication with legislative staff, clients, and CSG staff. This is a three month, full-time or part-time, paid position ($12/hour). Applicants must be able to start by January 20, 2014. Students may receive school credit for this internship if applicable.

DUTIES:
- Direct legislative support to the department:
- Drafting support letters for legislation
- Scheduling Meetings
- Researching various subject matters and producing briefing memos
- Completing legislative analysis
- Creating arguments/testimony for committee hearings
- Attending meetings and hearings
- Writing notices to clients about the status of legislation
- Monitoring, tracking, and updating legislation in database
- Monitoring legislative and administrative hearings
- Assisting with preparation of weekly staff meeting

Direct administrative support to the department:
- Filing, phones, and other administrative tasks
- Coordinating stakeholder, legislative, gubernatorial, and administrative meetings
- Scheduling upkeep and general support to staff
- Updating and maintaining department files

Other support activities associated with the internship:
- Writing reports and creating presentations
- Drafting and distribution of daily and weekly newsletters
- Delivering correspondence and other documents to legislative and administrative offices
