Opportunity
H-GAC seeks a Senior Regional Planner to join the Sustainable Development team within our Community and Environmental Department. Through cooperation with local governments, H-GAC’s Community and Environmental Planning Department works to improve the quality of life for residents across the region. You will be involved in a wide range of programs, ranging from Livable Centers, Parks and Natural Areas, to Bringing Back Main Street.
The various programs focus on creating plans for walkable employment centers with connections for pedestrians and bicyclists; providing technical assistance for downtown revitalization, particularly in rural and suburban communities; and partnering on economic development projects. We also promote projects that enhance the quality of community spaces, such as low impact development, parks, and natural areas.
As a Senior Regional Planner, you will find motivation working with diverse communities from rural townships to dense urban populations. Strong project management, communication and presentation skills are crucial for success in this role. Major job duties will include managing planning consultant teams and H-GAC clients, project timelines and final deliverables. You must be proficient in collecting and analyzing data, researching best practices and demonstrate an interest finding and securing new funding opportunities based on Program interest. You must be able provide professional and timely feedback to a variety of audiences. The ideal candidate will provide design procedures and develop regional plans for a range of sustainable development programs. As a team player, the idea candidate will assist and lead in the preparation and execution of various committee meetings and training workshops.

Requirements
The successful candidate will have at a minimum:
• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Regional Planning or related field.
Five (5) years’ experience in urban or regional planning.
• Thorough knowledge of pertinent policies, regulations and best management practices.
• Ability to plan and effectively manage complex, long-term projects.
