Organization: Bill Sorro Housing Program (BiSHoP) is a unique housing service
center inspired by Bill Sorro’s work to support low-income individuals, families,
immigrants, veterans, seniors, people with disabilities, LGBT, and other highly
vulnerable tenants from displacement.

Overview: The Bilingual-Arabic Housing Case Manager is responsible for providing
assistance, advocacy, and guidance in support of meeting clients’ housing needs. The
Case Manager helps clients navigate city agencies, programs, and services and advocates
on client’s behalf. CM supports client in understanding the legal rights and
responsibilities of client and landlord.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Professionally and ethically interacts with clients, community members, etc. of
diverse backgrounds.
2. Conducts comprehensive intake and assessment of the housing needs of a
prospective client.
3. Develops a case management plan that includes, but is not limited to, assistance
in identifying housing opportunities based on client's income, assistance in
completing BMR and affordable housing applications and the post-lottery
process, and counseling in navigating affordable housing process and tenants’
rights.
4. Create monthly case manager report for the program’s funders.
5. Assist at housing education workshops, if needed.
6. Monitors and accurately documents client’s progress towards goals identified in
their case management plan.
7. Establish a linkage and maintains a working relationship with service providers,
housing developers, tenant rights lawyers and property manager citywide.
8. Advocate on client’s behalf to certain city’s agencies, and other housing
developments.
9. Record and update clients’ information into organizational database platform.
10. Participate in coalition and community meetings that are beneficial in executing job
duties, if necessary.
11. Participate in trainings, workshops and weekly case conferences that are beneficial
in executing job duties.
12. Perform other duties, as needed, to implement program work plan or assigned by
the Executive Director.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
● Bilingual in Arabic is highly preferred.
● Excellent written and oral communication skills
● Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail and accuracy in record
keeping
● Ability to work collaboratively with other staff
● Strong problem solving skills
● Strong advocacy skills
● Great interest in social justice and equity
● Ability to perform task with minimum supervision and the capacity to work under
pressure
● Able to attend evening and weekend meetings/workshops as needed
● Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Apps, and ability to utilize
social media and Salesforce in implementing program goals when appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or relevant field or three years of case
management experience working with low-income communities. A combination
of education and experience ensures successful completion of essential job
functions.

Salary Wage: $30,002
Hours: 24 hours per week; can be full-time position
