The Marin County Community Development Agency's Housing & Federal Grants Division is looking for a student intern. The Housing & Federal Grants team works to preserve and expand the range and supply of adequate, accessible, and affordable housing through housing policies, regulations and programs and provides Marin communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs.

ABOUT THE POSITION
We are currently recruiting for an undergraduate or graduate student. Hours and schedule are flexible. The position(s) does not offer benefits.
Examples of Duties:
•Data Analysis and Research of Housing Needs in Marin: The intern will gather data and synthesize information from several sources including, the census, Marin Housing Authority, the Community Development Agency, non-profit and for-profit developers in Marin related to housing needs. The work may also include GIS cataloging and analysis of housing sites, graphic representation of data, and assisting staff with technical memorandums and presentations. The intern will work collaboratively with several departments including Housing and Federal Grants, Current Planning, and Building and Safety.
•Housing Element Annual Report: The work will include gathering data related to entitlement and building processes for significant rehabilitation and new construction in Marin County. The intern will learn about planning, zoning, building, and approval processes for single family, ADU/JADU, and multi-family structures in Marin County.
Outreach and Community Engagement Activities: The Housing and Federal Grants Division is especially invested in community engagement activities. Duties may include: creating engaging graphics for public awareness campaigns, working collaboratively with the Public Information Officer on press releases and social media outreach, and engaging with the public at meetings in different communities around Marin County.

ABOUT YOU
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program during the entire year of the internship with an emphasis in Planning, Architecture, or related field at an accredited college or university. The successful candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, research and data analysis skills, computer skills, and be able to thrive in a team-oriented office environment. Basic knowledge of land use planning principals is required.
