Alchemist Community Development Corporation (Alchemist CDC) is seeking an experienced, dynamic and dedicated Executive Director. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Alchemist CDC’s mission is to connect the community to land, food and opportunity.

Community development corporations are historically known for responding to their community's greatest needs. For Alchemist CDC in recent years, this has meant a focus on enhancing the quality of life in under-resourced communities by improving access to healthy foods, implementing community-supported redevelopment and beautification projects, and fostering economic self-sufficiency.

The selected Executive Director will provide strategic leadership, program oversight and overall day-to-day organizational management.They will be responsible for program planning and visioning while providing strong leadership as the face of Alchemist CDC.

In addition to a strong commitment to social justice, the ideal Executive Director has proven experience in fundraising, strategic planning, coalition building and strengthening community partnerships. They must work well with an engaged Board of Directors and be committed to ongoing support of both staff and board development. Those with an existing connection to the communities we work with are highly preferred.

General Qualifications
● Commitment to Alchemist CDC’s mission and understanding of the principles and strategies of community development and investment, social equity, and barriers to food and economic security
● 5+ years nonprofit management or supervisory experience
● Excellent public speaking and written communication skills
● Strong attention to details
● Personal qualities of integrity and credibility
● Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree in Nonprofit Management, Community Development, Organizing & Advocacy, Planning, Public Policy or equivalent preferred

Financial Sustainability
● Demonstrated ability to manage long-term financial stability of an organization
● Success at securing revenue from a wide range of grants, sponsorships, major donors and other funding sources

Organization Mission and Strategy
● Proven ability to strengthen an organization’s mission and ensure programs align with long-term goals
● Demonstrated success in strategic planning and long-term visioning
● Ability to be a change agent and to thoughtfully manage growth to further the mission of Alchemist CDC

Community Leadership/Partnerships
● Experience building and maintaining positive relationships with community partners
● Ability to work closely with diverse sectors, including public, nonprofit and private organizations
● Engage with a variety of audiences, including community members, educators, researchers, donors, elected officials and other community leaders
● Has existing community relationships in Oak Park, South Sacramento, North Sacramento a plus

Board of Directors/Organizational Performance
● Ability to work closely with a Board and staff to implement strategic planning and programmatic goals
● Knowledge of labor and legal compliance requirements
● Ability to navigate metrics and key performance indicators
● Strength in hiring, recruiting and managing individuals and teams while fostering a positive, inclusive business culture; able to think about staffing structure and long-term needs

This is a full-time, exempt position. Annual salary of $65,000 to $75,000, DOE, with PTO, medical, dental and vision coverage.
