The City of Berkeley Department of Public Works Transportation Division seeks to hire two (2) interns to support the Parking Services Unit. Parking Services is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating parking management policies in residential and commercial areas of Berkeley, and for ongoing operation of over 3,800 parking meters and three off-street public parking garages.

These two 19 hour-per-week paid intern positions will support the Residential Shared Parking Pilot (RSPP) project, a grant-funded initiative to better understand how people use parking in residential areas of the Southside and Elmwood neighborhoods, and to establish a pilot program testing ways of increasing parking availability and providing travel options for a wide range of users. Other parking planning and analysis tasks may be assigned as needed.

The Parking Services Interns will report to the Parking Services Manager in the Transportation Division of Public Works. Day-to-day work activities on the parking projects will be led by Gordon Hansen, Senior Planner and goBerkeley Program Manager. Interested candidates should apply on the City’s Employment page, selecting the “Intern” classification and indicating an interest in “Public Works - Transportation” in the Supplemental Questions (Link here: https://bit.ly/2WgRu20). Candidates should also be prepared to share GIS and Adobe Creative Suite work samples, as applicable and if available. The positions begin on or after February 25, 2019 and are located in the City of Berkeley Department of Public Works offices in Downtown Berkeley, CA.
