The City of Emeryville seeks a City Planning graduate student or recent Master's degree graduate for long-range and current planning.

In long-range planning, the intern may help to
• create an Annual Report on General Plan implementation,
• conduct outreach for the 40th Street Transit-Bike Hub concept design,
• provide data to consultants for climate vulnerability and adaptation report
• update our Residential Addresses list,
• enter and attach data on planning projects in a permit tracking system, and
• write articles and take photos for the City News and Activity Guide.

In current planning, the intern may
• cover the Planning counter and the City information desk,
• take in applications,
• check plans,
• write zoning verification letters, and
• enter new projects in a permit tracking database.

The intern may have the opportunity to
• make maps in GIS and Illustrator,
• produce documents in InDesign;
• conduct research and surveys, and
• help facilitate meetings.

Skills required include
• graphic and map design, GIS, Illustrator, spatial data analysis;
• meeting facilitation, surveys, database entry, numeric data analysis;
• research, photography, field work, writing;
• customer service, explaining regulations or information, reviewing plans;
• planning for transportation, parks, climate change, or other topics

Compensation is $20-$21/hour depending on qualifications.
Interns may stay up to 2 years, working 14 to 20 hours per week, up to 1,000 hours per fiscal year.
