A career in trails? Is that even possible? Yes! There is no other firm like TrailPeople. We are a small team that leads big important projects – visit our website and see. We do only trails, bicycle, and pedestrian improvements – everything from visioning through construction documents, plus assessments and upgrades of existing systems. We work closely with agencies, organizations, and communities to resolve plans that work for people and the environment. Everyone here gets involved in every part of the practice. We maintain a casual and flexible, but very committed, office atmosphere.

About the Position
We seek a person with strong planning and design skills a who is passionate about connecting people to nature and active transportation options to play a key supporting role. TrailPeople offers the opportunity to work on interesting and challenging projects in scenic locales; socially and environmentally beneficial work; and excellent opportunities to learn, take on responsibilities and increase earnings.

Our work includes planning and design at regional, master plan, preliminary design and construction document stages. You will be engaged in marketing and project management, taking projects from “cradle to grave.” Other tasks include research, technical report writing and support of public and stakeholder outreach and engagement.

This is a full time/40 hours per week position. Pay is commensurate with other planning and design firms; opportunities to learn, advance, and share in the rewards are unexcelled. Hours and work location are flexible – subject to needs and negotiation. We plan on opening a Berkeley office by 2019.

Qualifications
Educational focus and prior professional experience in bicycle and pedestrian facilities, complete streets, and trails for recreation and transportation is highly desirable. We are looking for someone with skills in planning (technical writing, analysis, and presentation); graphic illustration (photosims, 3D models, plans); and/or design (plans, cross‐sections, and elevations). Fluency in MS Office suite and ArcGIS or AutoCAD is required. Fluency in Sketchup, Adobe Illustrator, or Photoshop, is desirable.

Undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture, City and Regional Planning, Civil or Traffic Engineering or related field required. Master’s degree in related field highly desirable. A minimum of one year of pertinent professional experience is required, and up to 5 years is desirable.
