The TODCO Group is the nonprofit community development corporation for San Francisco’s dynamic South of Market Neighborhood. For 45 years it has been fully engaged in SOMA’s many civic/urban/social/economic planning issues and initiatives. It’s summary Mission Statement is: South of Market Neighborhood Builders.

Community Planning and Advocacy is one of TODCO’s highest priorities, a five-position division under the direction of the TODCO Group President. Specifically, as a member of this team the Community Information Coordinator will:

• Develop and execute web and social media strategies addressing the South of Market communities and San Francisco civic realm that maximize community engagement and the impact of TODCO’s advocacy.

• Manage the TODCO Group’s existing general information website.

• Setup and Manage TODCO’s social media sites, including regular posts, creating and maintaining new campaigns, and monitoring social media activity.

• Set up and coordinate TODCO’s community meetings, including community outreach.

• Engage and participate in the meetings activities of a wide range of SOMA community organizations and citywide groups working toward the same goals as TODCO’s advocacy.

• Present TODCO’s advocacy positions in in civic and public venues of all kinds, including civic advisory committees and City commissions’ hearings.

• Draft written materials and prepare reports/presentations of all kinds in support of the above work activities.

Has a proven track record managing and understanding web and social media.

Can communicate and engage effectively and appropriately with a very wide range of diverse Central City communities and cultures.

Can make effective public presentations.

Is a capable writer.

Can manage projects independently.


Experience, Qualifications and Skills:

Proven writing and communication skills.

Proven public speaking skills.

Experience in organizing community meetings and events.

Three years minimum experience with San Francisco Central City communities engagement.

General knowledge of San Francisco City government and civic issues relevant to TODCO’s advocacy.

Technical Skills Required:

Proficiency in MS Office, up-to-date with Social Media tools and technologies, and Website editing competency

Work Schedule: Full-Time exempt position (overtime not applicable). Flexible work schedule as approved by Supervisor.

Salary: $60,000-$80,000/yr FTE (FY 2018-19) DOE
