This is an hourly paid internship with competitive wages based on your experience and talent. Successful interns may be asked to join the firm full-time upon completion of the internship and studies.

Applicants must be a current graduate-level student in Planning, Urban Design or related discipline who has strong GIS skills and an interest in the field of active transportation and/or passion for making the communities you’ll work with better.

Position Priorities:
The ability to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative team environment while maintaining a can-do attitude to meet competing priorities in a timely, accurate, and complete manner is a key requirement of this position. Some priorities of this internship, depending on the candidate’s experience and focus are to:

Produce work associated with trail, wayfinding, park, bikeway, cycle track, and roadway design and planning.
Participate in planning, design and construction drawing packages, and development of cost estimates.
Contribute to the production of high-quality reports and analyses.
Conduct research activities in support of project planning deliverables.
Participate in public outreach and the production of other project deliverables.
Provide hands-on support to project teams, Project Managers, and other staff.

Required Skills and Experience:
One-two (1-2) years of graduate-level Planning, Urban Design, or related work experience (full or part-time)
GIS experience, including ArcGIS software
Ability to understand the big picture while executing the details
Someone who can follow directions well and also manage-up to provide more clarity when the goals or desired outcomes are unclear.
Clear communicator with a strong work ethic
Excellent writing and research abilities
Desired Skills and Experience:

AutoCAD capability
SketchUp capability
Experience with Microsoft products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.)
Design skills using Adobe products including Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
