SiliconValley@Home (SV@Home) is the new voice for affordable housing in Santa Clara County. A program of Housing Trust Silicon Valley, SV@Home advocates for policies, programs, land use, and funding that increase the supply of affordable housing. Additionally, it educates elected officials and the community about the need for housing. It is anticipated that SV@Home will become an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit in the next 18 months.

SV@Home is seeking a passionate, well-organized, self-motivated individual to support its policy work. Duties and responsibilities of the Director of Policy will include:

Duties and Responsibilities

Policy and Advocacy
• Working with area partners, lead the effort to increase funding for affordable housing, including a possible revenue measure in Santa Clara County
• Complete research and analysis on issues related to housing policy and development.]
• Develop position papers, policy briefs, and advocacy tools.
• Prepare and manage action alerts, prepare letters, and testify on affordable housing issues.
• Serve as a liaison to link Santa Clara County to other affordable housing, social equity, and smart growth initiatives in the Bay Area.

Education and Information
• Compose issue alerts and manage social media efforts, including the SV@Home web site.
• Collect and manage data on affordable housing needs and resources.
• Participate in developing and implementing campaigns to educate the public and elected officials about affordable housing.
• Coordinate events that provide educational and networking opportunities for SV@Home members, including Affordable Housing Week.

Administration
• Assist in the planning of board meetings.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• A minimum of four years of experience or graduate education, preferably in affordable housing, community development, or public policy advocacy.
• Excellent communication skills, including both writing and public presentations.
• Must have a start up attitude, be well organized at handling multiple tasks, work well in a team environment, and have the ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Organizing/campaign experience a plus.

COMPENSATION:
• $70,000 to $90,000 Annual Salary
• Medical, dental, vacation, sick, holiday and 401K retirement plan.
