SALARY: $25.00- $30.00 / hour depending on qualifications

HOURS: up to 24 hours/week

The City of South San Francisco is a fully independent, full-service city with an estimated population of 65,127 growing to 100,000 during business hours. City departments include: Police; Fire; Parks & Recreation; Public Works; Economic and Community Development; Information Technology; City Attorney; Library; Finance; Human Resources; and Office of the City Manager. The City has a Council-City Manager form of government with more than 400 full– and part-time employees.

Under the direction of the Economic Development and Housing Manager, the Rehabilitation/Construction Specialist will perform a variety of tasks such as:
•Managing the Downtown Façade and Tenant Improvement Program, including working with area businesses, contractors and architects, monitoring prevailing wages, project planning, conducting site visits, preparing requests for proposals, etc.
•Assisting with the Housing Rehabilitation Program, including working with homeowners and contractors, conducting site inspections, preparing requests for proposals, project planning, etc.
•Conducting environmental reviews for federally funded work, including home rehabilitation and commercial projects.
•Assisting with other construction/property management projects that are undertaken by the Economic & Community Development Department.
•Technical writing including request for proposals, reports, memorandums, and contracts.
•Providing administrative support to department managers and senior staff.
•Responding to public inquiries and attending public meetings.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Preferred majors: Community Development, Architecture, Public Policy, Business, Economics, or other related majors.

EXPERIENCE: Experience working in the housing, development, nonprofit, government, or other related sector is preferred. Some project management and construction experience is also required.
