The City of Newcastle, Oklahoma is seeking qualified, motivated and energetic candidates for the position of Community Development Director. This position will directly oversee the building inspection and code enforcement personnel and will provide the City with urban planning expertise as well as general direction to multiple city departments. This position is ideal for those candidates that enjoy being intricately involved in the development of the City on many fronts. Public speaking skills are a must as the incumbent will attend all public meetings for the City.

Basic Job Duties:

• Review building permits for zoning compliance
• Manage all land use/entitlement cases for the City
• Preform long range planning activities such as updates to the comprehensive plan
• Advise City Council and Planning Commission in regards to proposed changes to city regulations involving land use and planning
• Operate as the point of contact for public inquiries about zoning, land use, and entitlements
• Function as part of the City Economic Development team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or related field and three years municipal, urban or regional planning experience. A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with City of Newcastle policy.

Certification by American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is desired
