The San Francisco Clean Cities Coalition (SFCCC), housed in the San Francisco Department of Environment, is one of almost 100 Coalitions around the country supported by the U.S. Department of Energy. SFCCC works with local public and private stakeholders to reduce petroleum consumption in the transportation sector.

The San Francisco Clean Cities Coalition Intern will have the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to projects aimed at reducing petroleum consumption and greenhouse gas emissions while improving air quality and the health of San Francisco’s residents. Activities may include assisting the Point Reyes National Seashore with an electric vehicle project, promoting and implementing a local idle-reduction campaign, assisting in implementation of the San Francisco Alt Fuel Readiness Project, planning outreach and stakeholder events, and assisting in collecting alternative fuel data for the Department of Energy.

The student selected will be involved in developing work plans, programs and presentations; conducting outreach activities (including maintenance the SFCCC website and social media campaigns); collecting and analyzing data; and communicating findings. Relevant majors include those providing an analytical background (data analysis or policy analysis) such as science and engineering disciplines, public policy, and urban planning. Familiarity with transportation systems and issues is a plus.
