The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) is hiring a part-time college intern for a one-year assignment. This Internship is for an aspiring professional looking for an opportunity to gain professional work experience and training in transportation planning and analysis while in school.

To be considered you must be able to work onsite in our Oakland office, and attach a copy of your most current unofficial transcripts. Students will be working with both MTC's Planning Section and MTC's Programming & Allocations Section. This position is part-time with a maximum of 1,000 hours per fiscal-year; the majority of those hours are expected to occur during the summer (40 hours per week) with the remainder during the academic year (10 to 20 hours per week.)

Over the past decade, MTC has continually enhanced its capabilities in the field of performance-based planning and programming. This approach relies upon rigorous forecasting and analysis to inform policy decisions, highlighting regional transportation investments and land use strategies that help to achieve critical sustainability goals. The necessity of incorporating performance analysis into planning and programming decisions has only been strengthened under MAP-21, the current federal transportation legislation.

The individual will assist the agency in preparing for this new era of performance-based planning and programming by supporting target-setting and performance assessment activities related to MAP-21 and the update to Plan Bay Area, the region's first Sustainable Communities Strategy.

This position is Open Until Filled. Applications will be reviewed Every Monday by COB.
