The City of Vallejo provides eligible college students and recent college graduates the opportunity to work in the Planning Division. There are two internships available at this time: One position will focus on establishing a planning document library, and another will assist the Planning Division in evaluating properties proposed for rezoning during the City’s ongoing comprehensive General Plan and zoning code update. Each internship is designed to provide the knowledge, skills and tools that will assist successful candidates in future professional endeavors as well as introduce them to public service. Student interns are enabled to link theory with practice, gain real-world experience and develop specialized skills that cannot be taught in the classroom. The program also provides opportunities for City employees to serve as mentors.
This opportunity may also include assisting staff on special projects, which may include: Administrative support services, and research and development of planning-related ordinances.
