The Bayview Steering Committee (BSC) was formed in May 2014 to promote the vision for the Third Street neighborhood commercial corridor and is comprised of residents, business owners and property owners. The mission of the BSC is to support Third Street commercial corridor businesses and recruit additional businesses to the corridor.
The vision for the future of Bayview Third St is that it will be a vibrant, clean, and safe commercial district with a diverse mix of businesses and cultural facilities that meet the daily needs of the neighborhood.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Economic Development Corridor Manager is responsible for market research; managing data related to the Third Street commercial corridor and promoting the Third Street Corridor to businesses looking for start-up or expansion opportunities. It is expected that this will include the use of existing data bases and meeting with potential business, real estate brokers, and city agencies. This person should understand the past and present challenges of not only the corridor but of the BVHP community and be open in approach in bridging any gaps in relationships among BVHP residents, business owners and city partners to ensure new and stronger relationships that would result in positive and sustainable growth for all and that proof would be an improved 3rd Street Corridor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Conduct business attraction efforts for Third Street.
• Maintain up-to-date database of Third Street commercial and residential property owners, development projects, available office and retail space, and inventory of existing buildings and tenants.
• Ensure Third Street database of vacant buildings and sites is accurate and comprehensive.
• Create and implement comprehensive Business Attraction and Retention strategies inclusive of identifying potential commercial tenants for current vacancies.
• Develop Bayview commercial district marketing materials. Research neighborhood demographics, track and analyze trends related to development and businesses.
• Represent the BSC at meetings with prospects, property owners, and others as needed.
• Coordinate and collaborate with developers, property owners and/or brokers, as appropriate and attend property showings with prospects.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with prospects and economic development professionals, bankers, elected officials, commercial real estate brokers, site consultants, corporate real estate directors, and other members of the local community.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Third Street web site relating to marketing the corridor.
• Use social media to promote the Third Street commercial corridor.
• Report to the BSC as follows: Update monthly business attraction matrix detailing prospects at multiple stages of attraction, expansion and development.
• Attend meetings of committees, local planning and zoning boards, or other organizations where appropriate.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate degree required, graduate degree a plus (especially Real Estate Development or
Urban Planning) with 4 years’ of work experience in related business, including real estate development, brokerage, economic development, and urban planning.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
• Quantitative analytical and market research skills, especially development, leasing and demographic data gathering, analysis and reporting.
• Presentation and public speaking experience; advocacy and promotion.
• Understanding of local economic development tools.
• Understanding of commercial real estate development and leasing transactions.
• Genuine interest and experience in place-making and urban revitalization.
• Familiarity with transportation, infrastructure and urban planning and design issues.
• Understanding of and interest in developing greening projects, parks and open space.
• Knowledge and ability to use social media.
• Proven experience managing consultants and projects.
• Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks in fast paced environment.
• Positive attitude; problem-solver.
• Ability to take initiative and set and meet independent goals.
• Ability to communicate and build partnerships with different constituencies.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• GIS experience and basic InDesign skills a plus.
• Familiarity with the Bayview community a plus.

This position is currently classified as an independent contractor but the position is full time and reports to the Bayview Steering Committee, and will receive support from Bay Area LISC and the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development.
