Organization: The Council of Community Housing Organizations (CCHO) is a coalition of 23 community-based housing developers, service providers and tenant advocates. We fight for funding and policies that shape urban development and empower low-income and working-class communities. The work of our member organizations has resulted in nearly 30,000 units of affordable housing, as well as thousands of construction and permanent jobs for city residents.

CCHO is engaged this year in legislative work and supporting community campaigns around housing, land use and community stabilization issues. The Policy Researcher will assist with tasks related to this program work. Additionally, this position will assist with tasks related to overall program management, projects tracking, and organizational development as part of our small staff team.


Scope of work:

· Conduct background research related to local legislation and initiatives, and summarize in short summary memos.

· Refine methodology and conduct data analysis of the City’s quarterly Development Pipeline Database, starting with Q3 and Q4 2014.

· Assist with organizing CCHO projects file systems.

· Develop project scheduling/tracking system.

· Assist with local and regional events and workshops related to housing.


Skills: Familiarity with Excel and research methods is required. Candidates must be comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment. Interest or experience in organizational management a plus. Previous experience working in a nonprofit organization is desired.

Work Schedule: Work period is March through August 2015. The Policy Researcher/Program Assistant will be assigned a variety of tasks on a project-by-project basis, working ~20 hours per week on a set schedule (with some flexibility).

Compensation: $25-$35/hour, depending on experience
