The incumbent will work out of the Texas field office of the National Park Service Rivers, Trails, & Conservation Assistance Program. The goal of the work effort is the conservation of rivers and associated resources, establishment of trails and promotion of open space protection through activities, including technical assistance, consultation, information exchange, and building sustainable organizations that can carry out planning strategies. The incumbent facilitates multi-disciplinary teams in the development of strategies for enhancing the quality of communities and natural areas for public recreation, education, and other uses. The incumbent will be responsible for negotiating working agreements to carry out community-based conservation projects. Principle projects may include trail and green-way development and management, river and watershed protection initiatives, wild and scenic river management efforts, park and open space protection, and conservation of natural and cultural heritage sites and landscapes.
