The Research Analyst position will be responsible for the implementation of our research platform for the Northern California industrial market, as well as provide research support for the local brokerage teams in the Northern California region. The Research Analyst will partner with all employees and clients to complement and enhance their business needs.

This position will build and continue to elevate a best-in-class research program that differentiates JLL and drives a competitive advantage in the marketplace through market expertise, analysis and insight. The position will report to the Research Manager for Northern California Industrial and will work closely with JLL brokerage in the region and colleagues throughout the Americas research group.

Key responsibilities:
• Maintain intimate and extensive knowledge of the macro and micro factors affecting the marketplace and proactively position research to leverage this knowledge for the business and for clients
• Continue to learn and enhance market knowledge of the regional industrial markets, regional economy and national economy
• Contribute to the production of all local research reports and collateral
• Expand and improve the research platform, program, output that demonstrates the firm’s market expertise
• Interface with internal and external clients to share market conditions, economic conditions, forecasts and general market observations and analysis
• Work with brokerage and marketing teams to contribute to and enhance RFP’s, presentations and new business pitches, acting as a true business partner and value-add member of the team
• Develop and share best practice standards for the region and the Americas Research Group
• Maintain relationships with peer analysts at competitive commercial real estate firms in order to continually enhance your knowledge and market trend intelligence

Specific responsibilities:
• Lead quarterly market statistics process, involving collection, verification and finalization of data for the local market reports and contributions to national reports
• Create, write, analyze and edit quarterly reports for the local markets and the various submarkets that comprise the region
• Learn, support and improve market statistical methodology for the local markets
• Update and maintain database of historical market statistics, lease and sales comparable, development projects and active tenant requirements for the local markets
• Create economic reports on the local and regional statistical areas, with respect to employment data, population growth and other metrics that affect the local economy and commercial real estate market
• Develop and implement a plan and timeline for covering specific, current geographic and analytical gaps in industrial and economic research coverage
• Respond to all internal and external client requests for data and information on the market in a timely and accurate manner
• Contribute to special research reports and white papers on unique market economic or industry trends

Experience and qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, economics, urban planning or related field with exposure to research methodology, statistics and analytical writing is required
• Experience in research is preferred, with commercial real estate research experience a benefit
• Basic understanding of real estate markets and dedication to learning local markets and business
• Strong analytical skills, problem solving skills, and ability to process and analyze data; strong writing skills are required
• Coachability, adaptability, resourcefulness and problem solving capability are crucial
• Ability to multi-task, work/succeed under pressure, and able to effectively manage time and workload
• Solid written and oral communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
• High level analytical skills and problem solving ability and written and oral communication skills
• Accuracy, attention to detail, organizational/prioritization skills and general business/corporate experience is required
• Ability to effectively and professionally meet client expectations and positively represent the firm
• Proactive and strategic thinking and ability to lead research initiatives, align research with the business and innovate research output
• Command of requisite technology including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Google Earth, and Word and database systems
• Working knowledge of fusion tables and Google earth pro is preferred but not required
• A desire to work within a diverse, collaborative, and driven professional environment; desire to learn, be part of the business and offer insight and value consistently
