RAIMI + ASSOCIATES, INC., an urban planning consulting firm in downtown Berkeley, CA with offices in Los Angeles and Riverside, seeks a full-time Planner/Urban Designer. We will consider all candidates for the position that offer the diversity of expertise we are seeking and the position can be either entry-level or intermediate-level, depending on your qualifications. The ideal candidate will be able to immediately contribute to existing projects and help expand the firm’s practice in the long term. The position may start as a 3-month full-time contract position that could lead to permanent employment.

We are looking for an independent self-starter who enjoys working in a casual, productive, energetic, and fun environment. The position offers the opportunity to take on a range of responsibilities, including graphic design, urban design, GIS and technical analysis, writing and policy development, proposal writing, public outreach, and business development. Specific responsibilities, skills, and other desired characteristics are described below.

Job Responsibilities

•Graphic design (e.g., document design/layout, illustrative diagrams, etc.)

•Urban design (e.g., existing conditions analysis maps and site plans, street sections, photosimulations, etc.)

•GIS data management and analysis

•Researching and writing existing conditions reports

•Policy analysis and writing for General Plans, Specific Plans, and other policy documents

•Assisting with public outreach and participation processes, including workshops and social media

•Updating project web sites

•Writing and organizing proposals and other business development activities

Desired Skills and Qualifications

•Masters-level Planning, Urban Design, or Architecture degree and/or 2 years of related work-experience in planning or urban design

•Fluency in Spanish is desired but not required

•Excellent writing skills

•Knowledge of ArcGIS

•Graphic design skills including knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign)

•Urban design skills (AutoCAD, SketchUp, or other similar program)

•Experience working on planning documents such as General Plans and Specific Plans

•Experience working on zoning codes including form-based codes and hybrid codes

•Willingness to travel

•Dedication, motivation and team orientation
