ABOUT SPUR

The San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR) is one of North America’s preeminent urban planning and public policy organizations. Through research, advocacy and public education, SPUR promotes good planning and good government. SPUR is a member-supported nonprofit organization.

SUMMARY

Since 2010, SPUR has led an extensive interagency and public process for the development of the Ocean Beach Master Plan and three subsequent implementation implementation studies. This work represents the first move SPUR and San Francisco have made to directly address sea-level rise. For the past two years, SPUR has engaged in efforts to implement the vision, helping to translate plan recommendations into construction-ready projects, develop more detailed technical analysis, and prepare for environmental and regulatory review. These include a transportation analysis, a coastal management framework and open space planning. SPUR is seeking an intern to assist in finalizing these projects. This is an unpaid position, but it represents an exceptional opportunity to participate in a major coastal climate adaptation planning process with complex technical, political and regulatory challenges.
