UNITE HERE is recruiting a full-time Campaign Researcher to conduct research and develop campaign strategies that will improve the lives of low-wage hospitality industry workers. These positions will have a heavy focus on engaging in the development process for new hotels and other facilities.

UNITE HERE needs talented Campaign Researchers to join in the struggle to organize unorganized hospitality workers. The researchers will engage developers and other stakeholders to promote living wage jobs wherever new projects are being built. This position will require at least one year of in-depth training in San Francisco, after which relocation to a different city should be expected.

About UNITE HERE: UNITE HERE is the union leading the fight to organize hundreds of thousands of low-wage workers –- many of them African-Americans, Latino and Asian immigrants, and women -- in hotels, casinos, institutional cafeterias and airport concessions throughout North America. Our union, with over 250,000 members, is at the forefront of battles for workers' rights, immigration reform, living wages, and quality jobs in many cities throughout North America.

Responsibilities of this position include:

Develop local programs to expand UNITE HERE's political influence;
Build relationships and communicate with elected officials, community organizations, and others throughout the development approval process;
Identify, research, and analyze new development projects in the region, and represent the union during the planning & construction process;
Be willing to travel frequently, work long and sometimes irregular hours;
Be willing to relocate after one year of in-depth training in San Francisco;
Work with UNITE HERE organizers, members, regional staff and elected leaders;
Frequent travel, long and sometimes irregular hours;
Develop corporate analyses and adapt them for various audiences;
Develop and implement campaign strategies and tactics;
Develop expertise in UNITE HERE industries.

Desired Qualifications include:

Political experience – either lobbying or field/electoral – and/or organizing experience preferred;
A winning personality, and the demonstrated ability to develop positive relationships with decision-makers and community leaders at all levels and influence people;
Commitment to fighting for workers' rights, and activist experience;
BA Degree and/or relevant research or organizing experience (labor, political or community);
Strong analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills;
Familiarity with word processing and database software preferred;
Ability to manage a heavy workload with competing priorities and deadlines.
