SUMMARY
Marstel-Day, LLC, an Environmental Consulting and Planning firm, is seeking one or more highly motivated Analyst(s) with a strong commitment to a conservation ethic and a strong desire to identify and support strategies for community planning and natural resource conservation; and a commitment to use "green" best management practices in the performance of their work on a variety of projects, primarily in support of the company's planning, environmental, natural resources, and sustainability efforts.

PRIMARY DUTIES
This is a full-time position in which the incumbent(s) would support senior analysts and management staff on the preparation of responses (deliverables) for client generated task orders through the application of research and analytical techniques and methods, and the investigation and solution of concepts, planning, design, or implementation of solutions to client issues. This position also supports senior staff in initial evaluations of existing procedures, processes, techniques, models, and systems; performs data and data base management for specific projects in a variety of planning, encroachment management, conservation partnering, and sustainment assessments/projects.

The work requires the incumbent to perform research and information management and analyses, and may include project coordination/leadership. Incumbent is expected to be able to simultaneously work on multiple projects providing high quality analysis and technical assistance under tight deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Have a minimum of four years of professional research and analyses work experience, preferably with or for the Department of Defense, one or more military service, or other agencies of the federal government.
o Knowledge of habitat conservation, land use management, or natural resources management is a strong plus.
o Knowledge of DOD or military policy and planning, and federal policies and regulations is a significant plus.
• Have a Master’s degree in Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Engineering, Community, Regional or Urban Planning, Political Science or other related fields; or a Bachelor’s degree in related fields of study with a higher level of work experience comparable to holding a Master’s degree in that field. A 3.4 grade point average (on a scale of 4) in the highest degree course of study.
• Have a demonstrated high proficiency in the level of work performed and a demonstrated willingness to take on additional work assignments.
• Have a demonstrated and successful effort in expanding skill-sets over the period of time of professional work.
• Have the demonstrated ability to apply independent judgment in managing priorities and coordinating work activities to meet established deadlines.
• Have accomplished and demonstrated written and oral communication skills, with ability to communicate with diverse groups and individuals through writing, speaking and presentation abilities.
• Have proficiency in use of Microsoft Word®, Excel®, Outlook®, PowerPoint® and SharePoint ®

THE APPLICANT MUST

DUTY STATION AND RESIDENCY
• The incumbent's primary duty station will be in the Company’s offices in downtown Oakland, CA.
• Residence within, or willingness to relocate to, a federally designated HUBZone census tract within reasonable commuting distance of the primary duty (go to www.sba.gov/hubzone for more information). A relocation reimbursement may be considered. This residence requirement will be waived in instances of personal hardship (e.g., home ownership at a non-qualifying address with no requirement to move to take the position.)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS DESCRIPTION
The incumbent will normally work in an indoor, climate controlled work station or office, but be frequently required to travel to various other sites and/or offices which may not be climate controlled; to manage and coordinate work by scheduling and undertaking airline, train or vehicle travel. Incumbent will be required to frequently organize and coordinate schedules, analyze and interpret data, engage in fast-moving problem solving, be expected to professionally direct the work of others in stressful situations; communicate quickly and precisely with coworkers and clients, craft written communication including the use of e-mail and other electronic reproduction of words, graphs, and photos. Incumbent will be required to make regular use of and be proficient with computers, telephones, mobile communication devices, copy machines and printers.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
The company will pay a competitive salary commensurate with the incumbent’s level of education and experience and overall qualification of between $45,000 and $85,000 per year; and will also provide access to a 401(k) plan, health, disability, and life insurance, paid leave, and other benefits.
