The Town of Danville is currently looking for a bright and enthusiastic intern to work with the Planning Division staff on a variety of planning projects in the summer.

Internship Position
This position will focus on physical planning and urban design aspects with a range of planning assignments, including zoning, development regulations, and design guidelines.

Typical Functions
•Provides support to a team of community planners
•Assists staff in collecting and preparing data for various planning projects
•Conducts field work, collects parcel data and searches land records
•Prepares maps and planning reports of limited or variable complexity
•Conducts basic office functions as needed, such as data entry, file management, and customer service

Typical Knowledge
•Basic understanding of planning principles
•Competency in various computer software programs, such as Microsoft Suite, GIS, and Internet applications. Graphic and design knowledge is a plus.

•Flexibility and desire to work on varying planning projects

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
•Knowledge with or pursuing a degree in land use planning, landscape architecture or a related field
•Strong writing and design/physical planning abilities
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, GIS, photography
•Excellent oral and communication skills
