• Bachelor's degree in urban planning, architecture, environmental science, transportation, civil engineering, public policy, preservation or related area of study
• Minimum five years of experience in environmental planning and/or permitting, with specific experience in the energy field
• Experience with power generation/transmission projects
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including the editing, oversight or preparation of technical reports, and the presentation of information to private and government entities and various committees
• Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve less well-defined practical problems.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully work on several projects or issues simultaneously
• Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a team environment, as needed

Job Description: This position is supports the environmental review consulting, planning, and permitting services provided by the Environmental Planning Group in our San Francisco Office. We are seeking an experienced planner with a team spirit and proven project management success to grow our Group in a fast paced, multi-task environment. The qualified candidate is expected to assist in the development of clients, and manage complex projects with primary focus on CEC and NEPA/CEQA requirements. There may also be work related to environmental and land use permitting and planning strategy, as well as project management roles for other projects.

Incumbent responsibilities:
Technical:
• Serves as a technical specialist inside and outside his/her office
• Is consulted by associates and others with a high degree of reliance placed on his/her technical interpretations and advice
• Reports events and activities to management and elected and appointed officials
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and at client offices as needed

Project Management:
• Plans and implements segments of planning projects with unique or controversial problems, which involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation, and development of novel concepts and approaches
• Assists in implementation of solutions of broad and considerable novelty and importance that are critical to planning projects
• Tracks overall financial performance of task/project assignment. This will include coordinating with the Project Manager to monitor sold time and work backlog on task
• Assists in the management of complex, high profile, or unique tasks
