Why would you want to be a modeling intern in San Francisco?
-Feel powerful. Interns get a tremendous amount of responsibility and often lead major tasks or even small projects
-Peek into the "black box" of advanced travel models. Learn what it is like to work at a real, live, public agency that does a ton of travel modeling...and learn how easy it is to grasp w/ just some basic grounding in common sense
-Get paid to [basically] play SimCity. Be a part of shaping the future of this amazing city
-Have fun. We are really fun to work with! I promise!
-Satisfy your curiosity. About what is 'in the data', about how people make decisions, about how a planning study actually works
Some projects we are working on over the six months or so that you too could be a part of:
-Pricing study for development of Treasure Island
-Coming up with a new, non-LOS environmental metric for CEQA
-BRT Feasibility studies
-Determining what transportation investments are needed in order to support a massive amount of proposed development along San Francisco's Northeast Waterfront (including an NBA arena!)
-Evaluating the redevelopment of a commuter rail railyard and coupled tear-down of a freeway
-Evaluating continuation of the Central Subway to Fisherman's Wharf
-Overall citywide assessment on the next generation of rail development
-Wrangling our many massive data resources
What are we looking for in an intern?
-Internal consistency with the SFCTA mission statement and a general interest in the projects that we are undertaking
-Outstanding competencies in data wrangling, cat herding, and common sense
-Good work ethic and determination coupled with positive attitude
-Desire to be a modeling intern
-Bonus: programming experience (especially Python)

We are in dire need of some Spring interns in the coming months. We will accept new applications via instructions at www.sfcta.org/jobs through Wednesday March 12th.

Applicants who have applied for a Summer internship this calendar year will still be considered. We will also accept new applications for a Summer internship through Wednesday March 12th. See www.sfcta.org/jobs for details.
