The Research Associate’s role is to support our research and housing staff on three major housing related research and analysis projects. Intellectual curiosity, solution-driven orientation, commitment to the organization’s mission, flexibility and creativity within the specifications of the position are assets, as is knowledge of the Oakland/Bay Area community. This position requires someone with a combination of training, skills and experience in housing and urban development along with strong quantitative analysis.

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:

-Data discovery using online, administrative and local sources
-Processing and cleaning of housing-related data
-Providing meeting logistics planning support, note-taking, charting
-Literature reviews
-Data analysis using Excel, Access, SPSS or other data visualization tools
-Spatial data analysis using desktop and web mapping systems
-Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Requirements:
-A Masters degree and a minimum of two year’s experience in the fields of social science, housing policy or urban planning. With an Undergraduate Degree you will need at least five years of related experience.

Training, Experience and Proficiency in:
-Creating and maintaining databases (Excel, Access, SQL, cloud databases, fusion tables)
-Housing and urban planning knowledge
-Basic research methods and quantitative analysis
-Data analysis, interpretation, report preparation and presentation
-Oral and written communication
-Working with people from diverse ethnic, linguistic economic and professional backgrounds
-Bilingual a plus

SALARY:
This is a part-time temporary position between 20-35 hours per week negotiable. Hourly rate of $25-$40 per hour.
