Founded in 2010, SFMade is a groundbreaking non-profit organization focused on building San Francisco's economic base by developing the urban manufacturing sector. The only organization of its kind, SFMade helps to retain and grow companies producing locally made products, encourages entrepreneurship and innovation and creates employment opportunities for a diverse local workforce. SFMade currently supports more than 500 San Francisco-based manufacturers employing more than 4,000 people, and is already viewed as a national model.

The Hiring Made Better Program connects local job seekers to open positions at SFMade businesses, with a special focus on San Francisco's low income, disadvantaged communities. The YouthMade Program, in partnership with Juma Ventures, places low income, college bound high school students into paid internships with SFMade businesses. The Inside Manufacturing Program exposes high school students who are studying technical skills to manufacturing business owners, hands on workshops and field trips.
