Civic San Diego (formerly CCDC and SEDC) is a city-owned non-profit that is the entrepreneurial development partner for targeted urban neighborhoods. We are a one-stop shop with a Neighborhood Development Toolbox that lets us move quickly with public-private development projects and programs.

The Planner will perform a range of planning tasks focused on development review; design review; CEQA review; land use policy and code implementation; and community plan implementation including mobility, parking, and alternative transportation plans. Additionally, the Planner will analyze project proposals for conformance to the Downtown Community Plan and various planned district ordinances and other applicable regulations, codes, ordinances and procedures, stressing the architectural quality and urban design impacts of proposed projects.

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in planning, architecture, urban design or equivalent from an accredited college or university with major course work in urban design, architecture or planning in dense urban settings. Extensive course work and/or experience in architecture, urban design and/or landscape architecture required for planning-degree holders. Qualified candidates must possess a minimum of four (4) years of related experience to be considered for an associate level position, and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience to be considered for a senior level position.
