Walk San Francisco is the City’s pedestrian advocacy organization, working to make San Francisco a more livable, walkable city and reclaiming streets as safe, shared public space for everyone to enjoy. Walk SF’s mission is to make walking in San Francisco safer for everyone, so that our community is healthier and more livable.

Position Overview
Walk San Francisco’s Policy & Advocacy Intern will gain valuable skills and advocacy experience while helping to build a strong voice for pedestrians and sustainable streets in San Francisco. The Policy & Advocacy Intern will work directly with the Executive Director. Walk
SF is committed to supporting professional development.
Tasks will include:
• Developing advocacy memos and reports to city leaders
• Supporting advocacy efforts, including Vision Zero, our current effort to eliminate all traffic fatalities by 2024
• Researching, writing and disseminating publicly accessible fact sheets
• Developing local case studies on the economic benefits of walking, and disseminating fact sheets to local businesses
• Supporting Walk SF events, including Walk to Work Day
• Drafting letters to the editor, opinion editorials, and media pitches
• Other advocacy support as needed

This is an excellent opportunity for a person who's interested in building sustainable cities to learn how a non-profit organization really works – get in on the ground floor of a small, rapidly growing non-profit.
This internship offers a flexible schedule at 8-16 hours per week through the spring semester, with the potential to continue on over the summer or fall semester.

Compensation = $15/hour.
