The ideal applicant for this position will have experience managing plans and projects related to land use and development, basic administrative experience with federal grant programs, and the ability to administer land use regulations such as zoning and subdivision standards. The person should have the qualities necessary to succeed as a public service professional: display strong interpersonal skills, an ability to work constructively both on small teams and within the larger organization, have excellent research, analysis, and writing skills, and a desire to serve in the public interest.

The selected applicant could have duties related to the following: Formulate plans and reports related to land use and community development, including managing public input. Performs various administrative functions related to grant writing and grant administration to include supervision and oversight of various department activities and projects. Researches and analyzes various data and documents such as census information, maps, property ownership records, legal descriptions, property tax records, surveyor’s materials, statutes, ordinances, governmental agency rules and regulations. Reviewing and preparing recommendations on subdivision plats, site plans, re-zoning and variance applications for compliance with sound planning principles, laws, ordinances, rules and regulations. Provides information to the public regarding permits, ordinances, planning, flood plain, historical survey information to the public, in-person, by telephone and correspondence. Prepares staff reports for and represents the Department at various commission or other public meetings. Performs other duties as assigned.
