Environmental Science Associates (ESA) is seeking an experienced regulatory permitting specialist to join our team Bay Area Biological Resources group. This position requires a bachelors' degree (graduate degree preferred) in biology, ecology or related science, and a minimum of 8 years preparing wetland and other regulatory permit applications as well as developing regulatory compliance strategies for a variety of project types. The right candidate has a strong background and experience in federal, state and local wetland regulations, endangered species documentation, permitting strategies, and existing relationships with regulatory staff in the Bay Area and Central Valley. Experience preparing applications and documents for the Corps of Engineers, US Fish and Wildlife Services, NOAA Fisheries, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Regional Water Quality Control Board, Bay Conservation and Development Commission, California Coastal Commission and other state and local approvals is required. Experience with wetland delineations and the federal and state mitigation requirements, as well as knowledge of Bay Area and Central Valley wildlife and listed species, including survey methodologies and regulations, is also required.

Other desired qualifications include strong technical writing skills and critical thinking. The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and as part of a team and be expected to manage projects to completion, market services, prepare proposals, and demonstrate the ability and desire to provide services across all of ESA’s practice areas.
