As a valued member of the Caltrans team, you make it possible for the Department to provide a safe, sustainable, integrated and efficient transportation system to enhance California's economy and livability.

The incumbent will have a thorough knowledge of current transportation and land use planning processes, including related laws and guidelines, especially CEQA, the National Environmental Policy Act and SB 743, as well as research methods. Must be able to work independently and meet multiple deadlines on difficult and complex transportation planning projects. Ability to work with staff from diverse disciplines, including but not limited to, engineering, transportation and land use planning, project management, biology and landscape architecture is essential.

Under general direction of a Senior Transportation Planner, the incumbent coordinates review, comment and monitoring of local development projects that could impact the State Transportation Network (STN) for an assigned geographic area within the Bay Area District 4, performing complex planning work related to the Local Development-Intergovernmental Review (LD-IGR) function. Advises Lead Agencies (LAs) on what these impacts might be and ways to avoid, minimize and/or mitigate adverse impacts. Manages enormous volume of data through coordinating review of LD-IGR documents for assigned geographic areas, performs database entry/tracking and maintaining hard copy files. Collaborates with LAs to implement SB 743, the Caltrans Strategic Management Plan and Regional Sustainable Communities Strategies through focusing on policies and transportation fees for multimodal projects.
