Page, a full-service design organization with offices across the US, is seeking a planning intern for Summer 2019 in our San Francisco office. At Page, we are passionate about people, places, and improving human experiences through collaborative, innovative, and strategic thinking. We solve challenging issues with our talented team members and bring diverse perspectives to the built, natural, and digital environments. The Page-San Francisco office is a unique multi-disciplinary, 16-person studio that includes urban designers, planners, landscape architects, architects, and other professionals. The office in beautiful Jackson Square is home to the west coast team for Page.
We come from a mix of backgrounds and interests and work on complex and high-profile projects locally, nationally, and internationally. The San Francisco office’s campus planning and design work is nationally-recognized.
Our work sits at the intersection of today’s most vexing urban issues such as affordability and gentrification, climate change and the environment, equity and social justice, and the role of technology in places and spaces. We are looking for an intern who is passionate about design, motivated by social and environmental issues, and curious about the role that planning and design can play in helping to shape more resilient and equitable places.
We seek an urban design or planning student candidate who embraces an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach and is enthusiastic to contribute to a variety of work with our diverse staff. Once the intern is selected, we will work together to create an enriching summer experience based on the background and interests of the intern.
Potential responsibilities:
• Conduct research and perform analysis
• Engage in design and planning visioning with the team on campus and urban planning projects
• Contribute to graphics and/or document production
Required qualifications:
• Current or recent student in urban design, planning, landscape architecture, or architecture
• Interest in pursuing a career in urban design and planning
• Proficiency with MS office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Strong digital graphics skills- Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Rhino, AutoCAD, and/or others
• Strong communicator and writer
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Motivated self-starter with a willingness to learn
Preferred qualifications:
• Internship experience in urban design and planning
• Interest and experience in creative community engagement practices
• Proficiency in digital mapping, geospatial analysis, and/or data representation
• Additional graphics/representation skills such as hand drawing, photography, or video
