The City of Berkeley is currently looking to hire an Associate Planner (temporary six-month position pending recruitment for a permanent position) to join the Policy Group in the Land Use Planning Division. The Policy Group is responsible for developing long range policies and plans that will shape Berkeley’s future. The Associate Planner will be responsible for advancing land use policy by working independently on well-defined projects of moderate difficulty. Tasks will include data research and analysis, report preparation and presentation, meeting support (must be available to attend evening meetings), and public engagement. The ideal candidate has a bachelors or masters degree in City Planning (or related field), 2 years of professional experience, a deep understanding of planning documents and planning practices, excellent communication skills, and a keen interest in municipal planning and public service.
