City of Emeryville seeks City Planning grad student or recent Planning Master's degree graduate for mapping and long-range and current planning. In mapping, intern may update development projects map, and create maps for grant proposals and ordinances, in GIS and Illustrator. In long-range planning, intern may help to conduct public participation process for 40th/San Pablo Bus Bike Hub design, update residential address list, create annual report on General Plan implementation, draft RFP for plan for Bay Trail segment from Powell to Bay Bridge Trail, and write articles and take photos for City News. In current planning, intern may cover the Planning and City info desk, take in applications, check plans, write zoning verification letters, and enter and attach data on planning projects in permit tracking system. Skills required include graphic and map design, GIS, Illustrator, spatial and numeric data analysis; meeting facilitation, surveys, database entry; research,photography, field work, writing; customer service, explaining regulations or info, reviewing plans; and planning for transportation, parks, climate change or other topics. $20-$21/hr DOQ. Intern may stay up to 2 years, working 14-20 hrs/week, up to 1,000 hrs/fiscal year.
