The Planning Director administers activities of the Planning Department and serves as a key member of the Town’s management group. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in General Plan law, the California Environmental Quality Act, the Subdivision Map Act, and planning and zoning laws.

A minimum of eight (8) years of professional level, public agency planning experience, including at least three (3) years as an Assistant Planning Director or Senior Planner with supervisory duties is required. Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in urban planning, landscape architecture, public administration or related field is required. An AICP certification is preferred.

Located in the San Francisco East Bay, the Town of Moraga (population 16,016) is the home of Saint Mary’s College and is nestled within beautiful green hills, trails, homes and superior schools. Moraga was chosen by Great Cities and Forbes Magazine as the 2011 “6th Best City to Live and Learn.” The Town has a number of exciting and interesting planning projects scheduled under the leadership of the new Planning Director, including an update of its General Plan, a new Specific Plan or Development Plan for one of its two shopping centers, review and analysis of two large subdivisions, and implementation of community amenities. Moraga’s residents work to create a supportive partnership by volunteering and working alongside its community oriented governmental employees. The successful candidate will be a good communicator, team player, and politically adept. The annual salary for the Planning Director position ranges up to $163,810 DOQ and is supplemented by a generous benefits package.
