Alta Planning + Design is seeking a planning professional for our San Jose office. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced planning professional to take a leadership role working on high-profile active transportation projects in the dynamic Silicon Valley region. Our projects include bicycle, pedestrian and active transportation plans, complete streets studies, Safe Routes to School programs, tactical urbanism and demonstration projects, and education/safety campaigns for local and regional government clients throughout Northern California.

As a Planning Associate, you’ll nurture and grow client and industry partnerships, enhancing Alta’s reputation as a trusted advisor and expert, and supporting solutions that meet our client’s business objectives. You’ll manage some of our most high-profile projects, assisting in guiding our planning practice, and also help to manage planning staff.

We’re seeking an experienced professional who has an interest in and experience with active transportation, has strong people and project management skills, and is looking for the next challenge in their career. As a Planning Associate you have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Planning or related field and have worked for at least five (5) years in a consulting environment or public entity, have three (3) or more years working as a Project Manager and have at least that much experience managing staff.

Alta Planning + Design offers competitive salaries, opportunities for advancement including company ownership, great benefits including wellness and bike benefits, 21 days of paid time off to start, 10 paid holidays and a five year travel award, flexible work schedules, wellness and bike benefits, work-life balance, advancement opportunities and welcoming – and fun – work environments for our employees. Alta employees “walk the talk” and are leading the conversations and solutions focused on creating livable and healthy communities.
