Bicycle sharing is a sustainable, healthy, and community-based transport option that enhances urban livability and mobility. Ford GoBike is launching in 2017, bringing 7,000 bikes and over 530 stations to San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville and San Jose.

Overview of Position:
The Bike Share Planner will assist in the on-going planning, permitting, and deployments of stations in the Ford GoBike System.

You will coordinate with the internal team, across departments - both regional and in office and with external stakeholders including city partners about the proposed placement of bike share stations. You will create maps that can be brought to community stakeholders for review and create site drawings to collaborate with stakeholders. You will help lay the blueprint for Ford GoBike’s tenfold expansion by identifying station locations that are both feasible and desirable, based on a pre-defined Scoring Rubric and your own experience out in the field.

The Bike Share Planner will work under the guidance and supervision of the Expansion Manager. The responsibilities and duties of the position described here are representative of those an employee must perform. This is not a comprehensive list, and other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Key Aspects of Position:
Survey and measure potential sites, and add viable locations on online web tool.
Conduct follow-up site visits and surveys for both new stations and for station moves as requested
Manage station database for internal teams and external stakeholders
Coordinate with outreach team to locate feasible site locations and work with abutters to ensure that they are informed of the public process
Collect and synthesize direct or indirect feedback from team members, city representatives, elected officials, community stakeholders, and public workshop participants. Incorporate this feedback into working map
Be present at city staff meetings as necessary
Conduct outreach to buildings that abut potential bicycle share locations
Create large-scale print maps for public workshops. Create and design PDF maps suitable for online viewing
Provide information to Senior Engineer as they develop permit packages and traffic control plans for preferred sites.
Assist the Expansion Manager in preparing and submitting permit applications, traffic control plans, and / or license agreements.
Create and maintain well-organized station information file management, including items such as as-built drawings for Ford GoBike system.
Coordinate with the vendors who support the permit process, including site photography vendor and mapping vendor, among others
Assist Operations team through the planning and execution of city and private contractors’ requests for Deactivations, Reinstallations and Relocations.
Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience:
Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record
Ability to ride a bicycle in city traffic for extended periods of time
Knowledge of Bay Area geography and street layout
Willingness and ability to work off hours and/or weekends
Willingness to work in varying weather conditions
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; stoop, bend, and stand for long periods of time
Job may require hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week
Excitement and interest in bike sharing
Extreme professionalism
Attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlines
Experience with GIS
Experience with Adobe Illustrator
Clear communicator, both written and oral

Preferred Skills and Experience:
Advanced degree in planning, architecture, or a related field
Experience with architecture and computer-aided design (CAD)
Adobe Creative Suite (notably InDesign & Photoshop)
