The Ford Smart Mobility (FSM) LLC team is working to transform the urban transportation experience. Housed within FSM LLC, Greenfield Labs are a small but highly capable and fast moving team designing, developing, shipping and testing new products and services that help people make the best of multimodal transportation systems in cities around the world. We are looking for candidates to join us in this journey to develop and deliver exciting and ground-breaking human centered transportation products and services.

As a Transportation Partnerships Specialist you will act as a cross-functional bridge between public agency staff /leadership, and the Greenfield Labs product teams: part business development, part design research, part relationship management and part owner of street engineering expertise within the Lab. The Transportation Partnerships Specialist will play a central role in helping us build the products that public agencies - and their customers - actually need. You will have a strong background in public transportation planning, engineering or strategy, and an interest in helping build new mobility technologies that improve the urban transportation experience.

Position Responsibilities:

•Develop partnership strategies with the public transportation sector based on understanding of the Lab’s business goals and product development roadmaps.
•Source and negotiate partnerships for digital and hardware product testing and deployment, between Greenfield Labs and public transit (and transportation) agencies.
•Maintain productive and positive long term relationships with key staff and officials across major public agencies in North America.
•Facilitate rapid iterations of design research, product testing and deployment with public agencies and their customers.
•Be the source of truth within the Lab for the institutional and organizational cultures, mechanisms and quirks of public transportation agencies.
•Maintain a highly visible presence within the public transportation/mobility sector and develop the Lab’s relationship for thought leadership in the sector.
•Contribute transportation planning and engineering domain knowledge to inform product and service development.
•Extensive travel to maintain close relationships and represent the Lab at public forums.
Skills and Experience:

•Respected leader in the sector with a diverse national network of contacts at local, state and federal transportation agencies
•Interest in mobility technology and services.
•Compelling leadership behaviors; comfortable with ambiguity and working in “white space”
•Empathetic listener, gifted in translating human wants into well designed solutions
•Ability to work laterally across multiple business projects simultaneously
•Gifted communicator across multiple stakeholders with experience of delivering material in a way that engages the audience
•An interest in and commitment to human-centered design

Basic Qualification:
•Bachelors degree in Urban Planning, Engineering, Transportation Science, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or, Design
•5 + years of experience in transportation planning, engineering or strategy at a large-city public transportation/transit/planning agency or equivalent at Federal or state levels, or public transportation consulting firm
•2 + years’ Experience developing strong relationships and negotiating agreements within or with the public transport/planning sector

Preferred Qualifications:
•Master’s or PhD degree in civil engineering, transportation or urban planning
•Licensed Physical Engineer
•Prior experience in attending trade conferences such as TRB (Transportation Research Board) or NACTO
