James Lima Planning + Development is seeking an entrepreneurial and creative Senior Analyst for its growing real estate, economics, and public policy consulting practice. We provide planning, policy, real estate, and economic advisory services for downtown revitalization, real estate value creation, great placemaking, and shaping impactful public policy. Through its focus on the economics of placemaking, JLP+D helps develop innovative approaches that leverage public-private partnerships to address economic, social, and environmental imperatives and generate maximum public benefit.

JLP+D is committed to helping public and private sector clients create more vibrant, equitable, and resilient places. We work at all scales from single development parcels to institutional campuses, downtown and waterfront districts to regional economies. Our aim is to ensure the long-term success of urban regeneration investments — from planning and development of former industrial waterfronts and downtown district growth strategies to cultural arts facilities development, adaptive reuse of historic properties, and increasing access to economic opportunity and affordable housing. JLP+D is privileged to collaborate with the most creative and innovative urban designers, planners, and other professionals involved in city building today. Based in New York, the firm works extensively in the New York region with additional projects stretching across the East Coast, the Mid-west, South, and West Coast.

The Senior Analyst will have day-to-day project manager responsibility to lead multiple consulting assignments, including managing project schedules and outcomes, working directly with clients to respond to changing needs as projects evolve, conducting research and analysis, and drafting and presenting deliverables. These deliverables may include presentations, case studies, market and financial analyses, and writing for technical and non-technical audiences. Responsibilities vary across our diverse portfolio of projects and services, but may include:
• policy research, development, and analysis
• financial modeling and project pro forma analysis
• economic development research and analysis
• public and high-level stakeholder engagement activities
• generation of creative program ideas
• market and demographic research and analysis
• presentation and graphics production
• production of non-technical narratives and technical reports
• analysis of planning and architectural designs and diagrams

A significant amount of client and team collaboration is required in this role. To contribute to the firm’s current phase of growth, the role also includes a scope of responsibility related to business development and operational support. These tasks may include:
• production of presentations for potential clients and collaborators
• production of written and graphic project proposal materials
• identification of solicitations and other project opportunities that are aligned with firm capacity and growth strategy
• management of firm website platform and content
• management of firm social media presence
• other administrative tasks as needed

JLP+D is seeking candidates who are self-described urbanists with work experience related to real estate development and a high degree of familiarity with how this field intersects with urban planning, economic development, public policy, and finance. Solid experience with Excel is required for success in this role. Knowledge of public-private partnerships and public financing is preferred, as is an understanding of real estate market and demographic fundamentals. The firm takes a creative and entrepreneurial approach to identifying solutions to complex problems and producing program ideas for its clients, and seeks candidates who can show how they’ve incorporated these values into their own work. Knowledge of urban design is a plus, as is experience in graphic design.

Candidates should have a Master’s Degree, or a Bachelor’s Degree with a focus on real estate, economics, urban planning, business, public policy, or other related area of study and three to five years of relevant full-time experience in real estate development, economic development, urban planning, or public policy.

JLP+D offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience and credentials. Candidates must submit cover letter and resume to Daniel Rojo at daniel@jameslimadevelopment.com by May 9th, 2017.
