CDM Smith has an immediate opening in our Sacramento, CA office for an entry-level Environmental Planner. We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team of environmental planners and engineers in support of water resources, river restoration, and flood control planning and engineering projects. Many projects focus on California water resources, including water supplies, and operation of State and Federal water projects. Individual will conduct impacts analyses on hydrology, water quality, biological resources, recreation, visual, and other environmental resources and write sections for CEQA/NEPA documents. Selected candidate will assist with strategic planning of water resources projects and assist in developing planning alternatives. Individual will support field activities and perform additional duties as required.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: o Researching and writing sections for CEQA, NEPA, ESA, and planning documents, including environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, initial studies, and environmental impact reports. o Assisting in coordination with sub-consultants and project team members. o Assisting in research and coordination with regulatory agencies. o Assisting Project Manager with meeting summaries, budget and schedule tracking, and other project management tasks.

*Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Studies, Urban Planning, or a related field is required. Knowledge of California water resources (CVP, SWP, etc.) is useful. Experience with CEQA/NEPA requirements is a plus. Knowledge of environmental permits (CWA 404/401, NHPA 106, ESA Section 7) is beneficial. Knowledge of commonly used computer software (Word, Excel, Access) expected. Candidate must have excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills.
