Organization: The TODCO Group is the nonprofit community development corporation for San Francisco’s dynamic South of Market Neighborhood. For 40 years we have been fully engaged in SOMA’s many Civic/ urban/ social/ economic planning issues and initiatives. Our summary Mission Statement is: South of Market Neighborhood Builders.

TODCO Group is actively involved in numerous Community Building, Policy and Planning issues in SOMA. The Planning Researcher will assist with tasks related to the Central SOMA Plan. Additionally, the Planning Researcher will assist with tasks related to planning matters and research for the SOMA neighborhood at large.

Tasks: Specifically, the Planning Researcher will:
• Assist with and help organize community meetings related to the Central SOMA Plan and Arts/PDR Anti-Displacement efforts
• Complete field work and data collection.
• Attend community meetings, Planning Commission, etc. and report back.
• Photograph and record neighborhood locations.
• Assist with general office tasks.

Skills: Familiarity with data collection and mapping techniques is required. Experience in organizing community meetings preferred. Interest in community building, mitigating displacement, pedestrian issues, and the SOMA neighborhood a plus.

Work schedule: Work to be completed Summer-Fall 2016. The Planning Researcher will complete tasks on a project-by-project basis, working ~20 hours per week. A supervisor will be available to answer any questions.
