Consulting firm is seeking an environmental planner to work on a part-time, temporary (i.e. short-term), and independent contractor (1099) basis.

The Planner will assist the consulting firm as detailed below:
• Socio-Economic Analysis: Write a brief 4-page report on the socio-economic conditions for a small city in northern California including the following topics:
o Existing population, projected population growth, disadvantaged unincorporated communities, and regional housing allocation.
• Data Collection: Utilize data from the U.S. Census, on-line databases, regional government agencies, and local government agencies.
• Technical: Ability to utilize geographic information systems is helpful, but not required.

The ideal candidate will have the following:
• Understanding of land-use, planning, environmental, and sustainability issues
• Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to utilize the internet and on-line tools such as email and dropbox etc.
• Enjoys working with numbers and have solid basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and addition).
• Ability to work as part of a team on specific projects.
• Graduation from a university with a B.A. or B.S. degree

This work will support a project our consulting firm is currently working on. Although this small assignment may be completed remotely, we prefer someone who lives in northern California. Must be a US citizen or legally able to work in the US. Entry level candidates are encouraged to apply. This assignment begins in late June 2016.

Contractor is expected to provide their own work space, office supplies, and a computer. Contractor is also required to have an active email address and a good internet connection.
