AECOM’s Sacramento office is seeking a professional with experience and expertise with managing the preparation of documentation to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and/or the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

The successful candidate would become a part of a dynamic northern California environmental planning team that enjoys excellent relationships with a wide range of local, regional, and state agencies, as well as private and nonprofit clients. Our Sacramento office has built a reputation for innovation, high-quality work, attentive client service, and a collegial office culture that fosters the highest degree of teamwork. AECOM’s Sacramento-based projects often combine environmental analysis and review with urban design, policy planning, engineering and design, and other related elements. We are looking to continue to build our local environmental planning practice, in part, through the hiring of a CEQA and/or NEPA Project Manager.

The environmental project manager will be responsible for client engagement and project management, which could involve small-, medium-, and large-scale projects for both public- and private-sector clients. The types of projects managed would depend on the background and interests of the successful candidate, but could include work related to urban development, recreation and open space planning, transportation and other infrastructure improvements, master planning, energy generation and distribution, greenhouse gas reduction, water quality, stormwater management, land conservation, flood protection, climate resilience, transit-oriented development, and other types of projects.

For the right candidate, this position could also involve business development in the candidate’s areas of strength and interest, working as part of our successful team to anticipate and pursue future work. If there is interest, the successful candidate would also supervise and mentor staff, lead external workshops on technical innovations and legal/regulatory changes related to environmental planning, publish work relevant to practitioners, and engage in other internal and external activities that would help to grow our practice. Project opportunities would be expected to be in northern California, the Sierra Nevada, and the Central Valley, but may include work elsewhere in California, the U.S., or possibly international locations, if there is an interest by the successful candidate. The right candidate would, with our interdisciplinary capabilities, geographic breadth, and market presence, have virtually unlimited growth potential related to technical wherewithal, practice growth and development, client development, and staff supervision and management.
