POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Property-Based Improvement District (PBID) is a special assessment district that conveys special benefits to the properties located within its boundaries. The PBID commissioned the Downtown Street Life Plan (DSLP) to create a vision and road map for place-making and public realm improvements based on stakeholder input and long-term needs assessment.
The Project Coordinator is a contract position primarily responsible for the implementation of the downtown exercise loop/Almaden Boulevard median redesign projects. The Project Coordinator will assist the Street Life Project Manager and Operations Manager as needed. This position reports to the Operations Manager.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Lead exercise course design process and implementation by working with the landscape design firm project consultant and project contractors and manage construction schedule timelines. Provide input and recommendations on selection of sites and fitness equipment.
• Coordinate with various City of San Jose departments to expedite implementation of the project. Examples include but are not limited to the following departments; Transportation (DOT), Public Works (DPW), Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS).
• Conduct outreach and engagement work with property owners and the neighboring communities. Will need to attend occasional after hours community meetings. Synthesize and share outreach outcomes both internally and externally with design team.
• Negotiate, develop and manage property use agreements with private property owners.
• Research and identify baseline fitness data. Develop tracking methods to measure outcomes of the exercise loop. May need to design data instrument to track individual user fitness progress.
• Create presentation materials and generate renderings to solicit project support and funding.
• Assist in the planning, scheduling and coordination of programming, such as fitness and healthy living classes conducted by contractors, consultants and volunteers.
• Assist in coordination of the exercise loop sites with the Almaden Boulevard median improvement project.
• Assist in other PBID street life projects and activities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• BA/BS degree and a minimum of two to five years of relevant professional experience.
• Background/experience in environmental design, landscape architecture, urban design or planning, or construction.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of community design and development.
• Strong interpersonal communications skills.
• Computer proficient with emphasis on Adobe Creative Suite and InDesign.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: PBID Operations Manager, San Jose Downtown Association
SALARY: The contract rate is $30 an hour, starting at 20-25 hours a week. This is a 6-month temporary position with the option to extend.
